Garda World now seeks applications from suitably qualified and experienced Consultants for a Close Protection Officer (CPO).
Garda World offers a competitive daily rate (Contractor will only be paid whilst on-duty—no payment made for Off-duty)—subject to local tax (if applicable)
8 weeks on, 4 weeks off, subject to operational requirements
Contractors are not entitled to pay while traveling. The first day of pay is the day of arrival in the country of operations. The last day of pay is the day of departure from the country of operations.
The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required in order to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.
Garda World will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.
Food, Accommodation, and General Expenses:
The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.
If the Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, the Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any traveling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide the Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as the Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by the Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.
Garda World will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.
The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the Garda World hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, Garda World will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.
The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address. The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or such other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodations at the project.

Only candidates that meet and are able to demonstrate the below-hiring criteria’s will be considered:
Thorough knowledge of the country's security environment with recent experience in Afghanistan and preferably in Kabul;
All CPOs must possess an EU accredited Close Protection qualification;
All CPOs will have served in the CP role in a high-risk environment for a minimum period of 3 years consecutively within the past 5 years, ideally in a similar international position preferably with Diplomatic Missions or Representations of International Organizations, attested by reference letters from current and/or former employers;
Military or police experience of 5 years, and ideally minimum rank of NATO rank OR4 or police equivalent;
Must be a citizen of an EU member state;
Proven knowledge of radio equipment and radio operational procedures;
English according to, at least, level B2 as defined in the standards available at http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/resources/european-language-levels-cefr;
Fully IT-literate in Word and Excel;
A high level of personal physical fitness, demonstrating maturity and composure under pressure in high-risk environments;
Valid EU driving license categories C, C1. Certified as B6 trained;
Excellent knowledge of first aid and trauma care, with a first aid qualification (ideally
First Person On the Scene "FPOS" qualified), to be proven through relevant certificates.
Note: The member of staff occupying this post must hold a valid personal security clearance or receive a valid personal security clearance within the first nine months after deployment.
Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to the provision of armed mobile protection services to ensure the safety and security of all client staff and other personnel who come under a duty of care of EUDEL Kabul.
Services the contractor can expect to carry out but are not limited to are as follows:
Operating as a member of a Close Protection team providing security and safety for EU Delegation staff and visitors, as allocated, whilst working outside the confines of the EU Delegation;
CPOs rotate through posts within the general CP teams, the HoD's CP team, and the Incident Response team in accordance with rosters designed by the CPS. (For information on the tasks of the Incident Response team, see paragraph 6.3.3);
Reporting to the Close Protection Supervisor for operational matters and contract and administrative issues;
Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of security incidents;
Ensuring that he/she is fully briefed and trained for all duties and responsibilities and kept abreast of the latest developments locally. The CPO will be implemented and rehearse all Standard Operating Procedures and Contingency Plans in accordance with the provisions of the contract and local legal requirements;
Ensuring that all Close Protection team security equipment is complete, is up to date and well maintained.
Any other direction or reasonable request is given by the appropriate Garda World Management team in accordance with GW Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines.
