The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for providing services for on-site clinic health units or events for Caliburn Commercial and Government contracts to support NYC Department Health and Hospitals. This is a temporary position and length of assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements. This position reports to the Site Program Management at the on-site clinic health unit.
This position is notional and contingent upon contract reward.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides medical services to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
Prepares specimens for processing.
Records and maintains examinee information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
Identifies the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making daily.
Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.
Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure currency with present practices and trends in healthcare and specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
Monitors reconciliation of financial transactions and ensures contract charges are applied uniformly.
Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Hold a New York EMT license and the ability to be favorably credentialed.
2 years of experience as a licensed EMT.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
Experience with performing point of care testing.
Proficient in EPIC, Cerner, or Atlas medical record systems.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
