Summary of Role
This is a fly-in fly-out role: 8 weeks on / 4 weeks off roster with travel in company time to our Wahgnion operations in Burkina Faso.
The position reports to the Wahgnion Protective Services (Security) Manager & will be responsible to ensure adequate integration and coordination is provided for the Protective Services (P.S.) Dept., ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures are followed by the P.S. teams Sitewide. Maintaining quick and effective reaction to emergency situations/incidents, as well as the administration of the P.S. Dept., including accurate and timely incident reporting.
To provide effective Security Management of manned guarding and P.S. Teams.
To assist the P.S. Manager in developing a comprehensive Security Response Plan, Emergency Evacuation Plan, and other policies and procedures.
Liaison with Gendarmerie National to ensure uninterrupted armed protection 24hrs a day, enabling quick response when work disruption affects employees/contractors by criminals, ASM, or community.
Investigating and monitoring Access Control systems; Ensure through liaison with the Security Support Superintendent (TBD) that the control room personnel understand the principles and operations of the different types of security detection and monitoring systems that are available
Overseeing security contract services and operations. Ensuring optimal performance by Service Providers.
Provide protection to WGO Personnel and Assets using both physical and technical security measures.
Advise and liaise with Site Management regarding Security and Intelligence matters.
Gather, analyze, and disseminate information and intelligence via WGO, National, and Foreign sources.
Adheres to and promotes the Company’s Values in interactions and decision making.
Manage conjointly with the Security Support Superintendent (TBD) the GPS Vehicle Tracking System.
Ensure regular training programs for P.S. Teams are conducted in an effective manner and relevant to the prevailing risk. The Superintendent will detail a training program and liaise with the security Manager and the Training Coordinator (TBD).
Ensure that all breaches of security are reported to the P.S. Manager and remedial action taken. Response and patrol teams monitor and audit security guard’s posts and performance. Submit reports to the P.S. Manager.
Ensure managed oversight of the Escort Services.
Design and manage a patrol program for response teams designating their patrols and areas of responsibility.
Maintain liaison on security issues with WGO teams and contractors.
Manage the submittal of the daily work schedule/program for all P.S. Teams and the operations Daily Report.
Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to continuous improvement, while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches.
Required Skills & Experience
Military or Police trained background
Minimum of 15 years of related experience
10 years’ experience managing an in physical security and leadership in a developing country (preferably Africa) with at least 5 years at a senior level managing a team, preferably in a resource extraction industry
Experience working and traveling in remote, complex and challenging security environments, preferably within Western Africa
Experience with Access Control, CCTV monitoring systems, GPS Vehicle Tracking System experience and UAV (Drone) experience beneficial
Computer literacy proficiency, in particular, MS Office suite
Demonstrated working knowledge of workplace incident management, emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity management
Fluency in English and French, both verbal and written, is essential
Excellent leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and empower team
A results-oriented leader that possesses strong interpersonal skills to influence and instill confidence cross-functionally and at all levels
Provide coaching and mentoring to team members & develop an overall plan for team to ensure skill development and succession plans
Responsible for the performance of team and address performance issues
