We are seeking a Security Superintendent: Investigations. Based in Guinea, working for a Global Mining Organization.
The ideal candidate must have a very strong experience in conducting investigations (mining preferably). A minimum of 8 years’ experience of which at least 5 years of successfully conducting serious investigations in a mining environment in addition to other security duties of enforcing the law, order, and regulations, protecting assets, managing security workforce, etc.
The ideal candidate must speak both French and English (this is non-negotiable) and must also have security qualifications (Tertiary Qualifications in the Security field/industry, ASIS CPP, or equivalent).
The incumbent will report to the Security Manager.
90 days leave per year (it comes down to roughly 9/3).
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To assist the Security Manager with team management, investigations, and maintenance of law and order and the safeguarding (prevention/detection/protection) of the company’s assets (life and property) within the Mining Operations and auxiliary areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Appraise performance of security operations within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas by regular inspections and audits in order to improve on the level of security ;
Consult / Advise with line management regarding security practices;
Assist in the development of an operational plan with a three (3) month to one (1) year duration for the security function;
Initiate appropriate security actions and practices;
Renders technical advice to key stakeholders e.g. operational personnel, and line management on matters such as trends, systems, policies, procedures, and codes;
Propose / Recommend changes to existing policies, procedures, and codes to ensure effectiveness;
Manage the implementation of approved changes to security systems within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas;
Analyze appropriate security actions and practices by checking weekly reports on all incidents and crime reported;
Manage sectional operations in accordance with Threat & Risk analysis in area of responsibility.
Manage the intake and preliminary evaluation of incoming investigations;
Categorize and enter the incoming investigations into the current tracking database and ensure timely case updates are entered;
Conduct security and other investigations (compliance, HR, etc.);
Maintaining loss and investigative statistics to include a comprehensive case management system;
Consolidate and provide updates to the Global Security Function as per the required timeframes;
Work closely with all other functions particularly, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, HR, and Finance in performing fact-finding investigations.
Financial and Costs Management
Develop and propose an annual budget and monitor expenditure on a monthly basis;
Assist in the forecasting of next budget cycle requirements;
Continuously identify and maintain cost savings initiatives;
Monitor and control overtime.
The results of the work and the results of the working behaviors of Subordinates;
Effectively modeling values-based behaviors and applying all managerial leadership practices in relation to Subordinates;
Build and maintain a team of Subordinates capable of doing the necessary work.
Identify and access all hazards and risks;
Initiate regular risk assessments within the area of accountability and update AURISK accordingly.
Ensure screening practices for all employees employed in positions of trust where applicable;
Ensure appropriate admin systems for personnel data, crime registers, reports, etc. are in place within the area of accountability;
Coordinate the administration of various security functions within the area of accountability.
Identify and initiate investigations in areas of concerns;
Analyze new trends in a crime or uprises in statistics within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas and take appropriate action;
Investigate all reported crime;
Managing technology strategy in terms of high-risk areas and crime management plans.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in the Security Industry
ASIS CPP or equivalent
Fluent in French and English
Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience of which five (5+) years should be on mining operations.
Knowledge of Security Systems and processes
Demonstrated commitment to safety
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent Presentation and Supervisory Skills
The successful candidate will be appointed on a renewable 2-year expatriate contract, with regular leave breaks and a US dollar-based salary.
