The rising threat of terrorism in Mozambique has spilled over into neighboring Tanzania, causing the first-ever terror attack in this East African country, carried out by a terrorist group Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP), which pledges allegiance to the Islamic State. Some 300 gunmen stormed #Kitaya village in the #Mtwara region. The number of casualties is unknown yet.
The ISCAP is active in Mozambique, DR Congo, and now in Tanzania. Also, the ISCAP took the responsibility for organizing a recent jailbreak in DRC when over a thousand prisoners have escaped. The increased presence and influence of the Islamic State throughout Africa are quite concerning; there is a constant growth of violent jihadists and extremists.
